A BLUE-HAIRED FARM GIRL AND HER ROYAL COW

I love this farm girl’s bright blue hair, with the glitter accents and extra rainbow coloring. You can feel her bubbly personality from her big eyes, rosy cheeks and sweet smile.

She’s paired with her favorite barnyard companion, the colorful cow, who is looking like royalty, wearing a gold doily crown and faux jewel nose ring.

When you see the two side by side, they just screams farm girl FUN!

As mentioned, the crown of this cow was created using a gold paper doily, along with glitter and faux jewels.

I love finding materials I can use for shapes and different textures, and when I purchased the gold paper doilies a while back, I knew I’d be using them for a crown on something, and this sassy royal cow was the perfect fit.

Faux jewels were also used for the girls earring and nose ring of the cow.

FUN FACT: Unlike fashion trends with us humans, a nose ring with cattle is used to control bulls and occasionally to help wean calves from suckling.

The butterfly was hand-painted onto a canvas scrap, cut out, and applied near the center of the cow’s forehead with adhesive glue. You’ll also notice yellow stripes added to the butterfly wings with embroidery floss.

To add texture to the roses along the cow’s crown line, acrylic paint, and extra heavy modeling paste were mixed and applied in a circular shape with a palette spatula.

Canvas scraps were also cut into shapes and covered in glitter for the heart in the girl’s hair and the stars on the cow’s side.

You’ll also notice the extra detail of the heart with the white embroidery floss stitching.

Along the bottom area of the painting, yellow embroidery floss is sewn into the center of each pink flower.

And a lot of fun shapes, lines, and extra designs were added to many areas of the painting with Posca Paint Markers.
