I FLUFFIN’ LOVE YOU – DIY VALENTINE

by

Thanks to the beautiful junk in my craft cabinet, I now have an adorable DIY Valentine to gift, and I fluffin’ love it!

The idea started with some paper mache heart boxes I purchased on Valentine’s Day clearance last year.

I’m pretty sure they came from Dollar General, but you can easily find these boxes at most dollar store retailers and even Walmart or Amazon during the Valentine’s Day shopping season.

For this DIY Valentine, I decided to use only the lid of the heart-shaped box. The bottom half was stuffed back into my craft cabinet for a later date. I’m sure you know how that goes.

Anyways, step one, paint the entire heart-shaped lid with craft paints.

I used FolkArt Multi-Surface Paint and ArtSkill Paint Markers for the dots.

Next, I took a picture that had one of my seven cats in it and cut out his silhouette.

This particular cat is Macho Man. He’s the king around here. At least indoors, anyway.

Then, I printed out the words I wanted to use on printer paper. I believe the font I used is Herculanum.

I took the cutout pieces, photograph of the cat, and words and glued them onto the inside part of the heart-shaped lid with Mod Podge.

So, I went back into my craft cabinet and found some paper flowers that were a perfect fit.

I also added some small magnetic buttons to the back so this cute DIY Valentine can post up on the refrigerator for a bit.

Macho Man’s sweetheart Mama May-May gave her approval, and we’ll be gifting this DIY Valentine to our favorite cat lover, Paul (the hubs).

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Emily
