PAINTING – GOLD METALLIC AND BUTTERFLIES
Repurposed to NEW! This delightful piece of art started with a flat canvas panel adhered to a chipboard panel and a thrifted wood frame.
I actually picked up three matching wood frames, like the one I used for this painting, so as you scroll below, you can see an example.
The painting was created with acrylic paints and paint markers measuring ″ 8.5 x 12 ″ with a .75 inch profile.
You’ll find a small supplies used list towards the end of this post.
MORE ON THE DETAILS
I glued the canvas and frame together and painted both with multiple layers of metallic gold acrylic paint.
Once the gold paint dried, I drew the butterflies on the canvas with a pencil and then started to color the wings with multiple layers of acrylic paint colors.
I used Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylic Paint in black to outline the bold areas around the wings and for the butterfly’s bodies.
I also used medium and fine paint markers for the pattern details.
As for the triangles, I first used a stencil and fine-point Posca Paint Marker in aqua green.
Next, I added the additional colors with Posca Paint Markers in black, pink and blue.
For the bold pink and white areas on the triangles, I used a small paintbrush with fluorescent pink and white acrylic paint.
I also added the triangles onto the frame, which helps make the frame and painting blend as one piece.
Around some areas of the gold frame, I gave a white wash effect by rubbing and wiping florescent pink and aqua into the grooves of the wood frame.
