EQUINE SUPPLIES: WHERE I SHOP AND WHAT I’M USING

Are you looking to find miniature horse and pony supplies?

I’m sharing some of my favorite places to shop online and items I use on the hobby farm with my equine pals.

SHOPPING FOR SUPPLIES

When it comes to miniature horse and pony supplies, they are harder to find in my area. 

This means I shop mostly online for things like halters, grazing muzzles, mini boots, fly gear, blankets, lead ropes, grooming tools, hay nets, etc. 

 STATE LINE TACK has been my go-to for years, and they often have sales that are too good to pass on. 

They also offer more than just equine supplies, as you can find discounts on apparel and footwear as well.

Also because I have ponies with EMS & Cushing’s Disease and GI issues, I’ve found that SmartPak Equine has a handful of options on specialty supplements that I can’t find locally.

As for feed, I shop at my local feed mill, but some items I need to make purchases at Tractor Supply Co. for the things they don’t carry. 

Amazon is another great resource and always worth it for price-checking! 

SUPPLIES I USE ON MY HOBBY FARM

White Lightning Grand Circuit Hoof Liquid: This is the best product I’ve used for White Line Disease on the ponies. You can also find it at SmartPak Equine.

Zareba Solar Fence Charger: All fencing on the hobby farm is powered by solar.

Earthquake Victory Rear Tine Tiller: NO JOKE! I till the entire dry lot once a year with this guy.

E. RV Water Filter: If you’re ever concerned about the minerals in your water, especially if you have a well, this is an option for filtering your animal’s water. You do need to refrigerate it when not in use. I use this for my equine water.

Flexzilla Garden Hose: In my opinion the BEST hose on the market! I only forget to shut it off sometimes.

Farm Innovator Heated Tub 16-Gallon:No need to break the ice for water here. Save your time and energy and get a heated waterer.

BASIC PONY SUPPLIES I PURCHASE AT STATE LINE TACK

Tough1 Deluxe Slow Feed Poly Hay Bag: You can never have too many. I have enough that I only have to fill nets once per week, and this helps feeding time chores go faster.

EasyBoot Mini: Good to have for laminitis flares, a soft comfort foam pad fits easily inside. Hoof Boots are my number one recommendation if you have a pony with tender feet.

Grooming Supplies: Kits like this one are great options as they include the most needed supplies, including a hoof pick, curry comb, face brush, mane and tail brush, dandy brush, and sweat scraper.

Shedding Blade: I use this one the most.

Lead Ropes : Make sure you check the length when buying lead ropes. I like shorter leads because I have ponies and minis. The ones linked is 8ft.

Halters: Halters: I use rope halters only, and they are only worn for handling like farrier or vet visits or walk around the property.

Shampoo & Detangler: Cowboy Magic is my favorite detangler and I prefer this brand for shampoo and conditioner because it’s safe to use on the chickens as well.

Turnout Sheets and Blankets: The only one I currently need to blanket is Cedar, my miniature horse, and only on very cold days. She has the Tough1 600D Miniature Turnout Blanket. 

Fly Control : I use both Shoo Fly Leggins and Tough1 Pony Comfort Mesh Fly Boots. I also use fly masks with and without ears, depending how bad the gnats are. There are also many fly spray options. A couple of my top picks are Pyranha Wipe N Spray, Equi-Spot Fly Control , and Farnam SWAT CLEAR Fly Repellent Ointment.

 

FEED STORAGE

I prefer to store all of my animal feed in coolers.

This includes feed for the equine, chicken and cats.

I use Igloo 60 QT Coolers for equine and chicken feed.

The cats have a and Aqua Igloo 48 Quart Cooler for cat food storage in the kitty playroom.

STALL MATS

Stall Mats: Great investment in your stall areas. They can even be applied over a sand surface. I purchase mine at Tractor Supply Co.
